Spaceconsul wants exemption from taxes...
Most people try their best to pay as little in taxes as possible, and there are a
lot of different ways to achieve this. Some are good and some are not quite
so good. A 63 years old man in Gothenburg, Sweden tried one of the more original
ways when filing his 1998 tax-return form, where he referred to his status as
a diplomat:
"In my capacity as consul of other planetary systems, I hereby demand exemption from taxes"
For some reason, the taxation authorities didn't agree to his
claims of diplomatic immunity to taxes, so he went to court, but lost. He appealed
to higher court, but lost again. It's presently unclear if he will pursue this
matter further and appeal to the Swedish supreme court...
